Receipt, 1627, Oct. 22. 3 Charles I.

Receipt witnessing that Nicholas, Lord Tufton, Baron of Tufton; Sir Edward Hales, baronet; Sir Thomas Smyth, knight of the Bath; and Sir Richard Sondes, knight, four of the deputy lieutenants for the County of Kent, have delivered to Samuel Veron, gentleman, conductor of the impressed men for his Majesty's present service to the port of Plymouth in the county of Devon, 60 men [names given] out of the tithes of St. Augustines, Shippwaye, and the hundreds annexed thereto, and out of the lathe of Scrag; also that they have paid him £641 13s. 4d. for this service, the receipt of which he acknowledges. Dated at Sittingborne the 22 day of October, 3 Charles [I], A.D. 1627.
